5/27/08- Selections for the 2008 Warriors teams will be forthcoming by Thursday, 5/29. Selection notices

In the summer of '08, OSLC will again offer a six week high school boys program who are serious about improving their game and will commit to playing in regional weekend tournaments.
The Warriors plan on fielding three boys teams in the high school age group (Varsity A, Varsity B, and JV); a U-15 team may be added as well. Teams will practice one-two times a week in the East Bay area from mid-June to late July. Practice will include Speed & Agility Improvement training to help the players become faster and more agile. Players will be encouraged to do weight training on off days. Guest appearances from local college coaches will enhance the experience as well.
Tournaments being considered include the Harvard Recruiting Tournament in Boston (June 21), Extremelax Tournament in Groton, MA (July 6th), the Ocean State Lacrosse Classic (July 19th or 20th), and the Battle of the HotBeds in Newark, DE (July 26th-29th). There are three recruiting showcase camps in July, at Portsmouth Abbey (July 6th-8th), Brown (July 9th-12th), and at Bryant (July 13th-16th), that we will encourage players to attend as well. Players on the OSLC summer teams also become eligible to play in the OSLC fall program, which prepares players for recruiting tournaments at Harvard (the Crimson Classic), Bryant (Pumpkin Shootout), and the Hampshire Dome (IAS Showcase).
Tryouts will be held on the following dates:
April 20th 4:00-6:00 Guiteras School Field in Bristol (behind the school at the corner of Hope & Washington Street) by Bristol Harbor.
May 4th 4:00-6:00 Portsmouth Abbey School Athletic Fields, off Cory's Lane Portmouth
May 18th 4:00-6:00 Portsmouth Abbey School Athletic Fields, off Cory's Lane Portmouth
There will be a one-time tryout fee of $25 to attend all tryouts and be eligible for selection to a team. Multiple tourmanent teams will be created if the numbers justify doing so.
The cost to play for the OSLC will be in the $300-350 range. This will include tournament fees for Groton Extremelax & The Ocean State Classic (excluding Battle of the Hotbeds and any recruiting showcase camps), speed & agility training, and administrative fees.
